Why a Campaign?
Before we begin setting up a campaign, we should answer the questions, "what is a campaign and why would we want one?" In the Play1 platform, a campaign represents the activities required to organize a successful corporate and/or family fundraising initiative. The outcomes of a campaign are exposure for your sponsors, commemoratives for your community and revenue for your organization. A campaign groups these activities into:
- The projects that need to be designed and fulfilled to create sponsorship exposure and commemoratives for your community
- The content that needs to be collected for the projects
- The products that will be sold to sponsors and your community
- The outreach pages where content is collected and products are sold
Before You Start
In order to create a campaign, there are just a couple pre-requisites. First, you need a user and an organization on the Play1 platform. An organization is any entity that wishes to run a corporate and/or family fundraiser. This could be a team, athletics department, club, band, choir, etc.
Creating a User
In your web browser, navigate to
https://app.play1.io/sign-up and choose your preferred login method. Note: if you sign up with email, you will be sent a verification email to the address you provide.
Creating an Organization
Click the '+ New' button in the upper right hand corner of the dashboard. Enter your organization's name, primary and secondary colors, timezone and logo if you have one.
Ready, Set, Campaign!
Create a Campaign
From the dashboard:
- Select your organization
- Ensure that 'Campaign' is selected in the left-hand panel
- Click '+ New'
- Enter your campaign details
- Click 'Create Campaign'
The 'Distribution Date' is the date that you want projects to be available to the public or in the case of commemorative products when they are delivered to you. This is typically, the start of a sports season or an event.
Create a Project
We are now ready to create our first project. The Play1 platform supports a number of different project types, but for our first campaign, let's keep it simple with a banner project.
- Ensure you are on the 'Projects' tab in your campaign
- Click '+ New'
- Select '3x6 Banner' from the 'Type' dropdown
- Name your project
- Select the 'Sponsor' design
- Click 'Create Project'
Create Content
We can skip this for now as a banner project does not require any additional content.
Create a Product
A product is something that can be sold. In our example, we are going to sell banners to corporate sponsors. To make a sponsor banner product:
- Ensure you are on the 'Products' tab in your campaign
- Click '+ New'
- Enter a name and price
- Select the 'Corporate Banner' option from the 'Items' dropdown
Create an Outreach Page
An outreach page is where a sponsor can discover, select and purchase your products. To create an outreach page:
- Ensure you are on the 'Outreach' tab in your campaign
- Click '+ New'
- Enter a 'Name'
- Note: this field is for your organization. The public will not see this value.
- Select the product you just made from 'Page Products'
All of the other fields are optional. Remember the organization logo and colors we collected earlier? Those will be used to make the out reach page look great by default.
Your are now ready to start selling corporate sponsorships. Copy the link from your outreach page and distribute it through your organization and in your community. Below is what our outreach page looks like.
Play1 Takes Over From There
Once sponsor orders come in, the team at Play1 will work with the sponsor to collect their assets and deliver your projects to you on your campaign's distribution date.
